Inter-Center Program of Frankfurt University on new African-Asian Interactions

AFRASO started on 1 February 2013 and carries out research on new interactions between Africa and Asia in comparative and transregional perspective. With the support of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) the two Goethe University area studies centres ZIAF (Center for Interdisciplinary African Studies) and IZO (Interdisciplinary Centre for East Asian Studies) organize a four-year research programme that brings together more than 40 scholars from six faculties of Goethe University Frankfurt.   AFRASO is set up as a major research project with national and international scope focusing on the complexity of African-Asian interactions. It will produce new knowledge on contents, forms, and implications of interactions between African and Asian protagonists on both continents and will contribute to an innovative reconceptualization of Area Studies.
